Christmas Opportunities

Dear Friend,

White Swan used to be a place where it was "always winter, and never Christmas; think of that!"(Lewis 1950).  However, I am writing here to tell you the exciting events that have developed at Christmas through Sacred Road Ministries.  We celebrated our first Christmas in White Swan in December of 2003.  We had a dinner and approximately 25 folks came.  The next year we had a Christmas feast in the longhouse and 120 folks came.  We now have a large Christmas feast and Christmas service in the longhouse in December, and over 400 people come every year.  Each person receives a hot meal, and receives a gift after the service.  In December, 2012, we will, again, be hosting a Christmas Feast and program in the White Swan longhouse.

In the two weeks before Christmas, we load up the 15 passenger vans and go door to door.  Even the youth of Hope Fellowships' youth group get to be "Santa"!  We deliver gifts to needy families and food boxes to approximately 60 households.  It has been a great way to share the Christmas story and the hope of Christ with our neighbors here.  The Christmas ministry enables Sacred Road to meet the community in personal ways at Christmas.  We smile, hug, pray, and give to one another.  Didn't Christ's incarnation show us this example?  Thank you for faithfully giving so that the message of Christ's birth can be proclaimed in White Swan at Christmas!

Sincerely,
Mary Granberry
